Yorkie questions, answered.
Clear, caring information for families exploring life with a Yorkshire Terrier.
What is the difference between teacup and standard Yorkies?+
“Teacup” is an informal marketing term, not a separate breed or an official AKC size classification. Adult size varies, and very small dogs may have additional health and handling considerations. Ask about the puppy’s parents, growth history and veterinary records rather than relying on a label alone.
Do you serve families outside Atlanta?+
Yes, we welcome inquiries from families across the United States. Any travel or delivery arrangements, timing, fees and welfare considerations are discussed and confirmed individually before a reservation.
What should I prepare before bringing a Yorkie home?+
Prepare a safe small-dog space, appropriately sized harness, secure carrier, food transition plan, grooming tools and a veterinary appointment. Puppy-proof for gaps, stairs, cords, small objects and places a tiny dog could fall or become trapped.
How often does a Yorkie need grooming?+
Yorkies need frequent coat brushing and regular professional or careful home grooming. Their fine hair can tangle, and dental care is especially important for small breeds. Your vet and groomer can help set a suitable routine.
How do inquiries and reservations work?+
Start by contacting us about a specific puppy. We discuss availability, your household, care expectations, written purchase terms, payment methods and any travel plan. A web form does not itself reserve a puppy.
What health information should I ask about?+
Ask for age-appropriate veterinary records, vaccination and parasite-prevention history, parent health information where available, and a written health policy. A veterinarian should evaluate a new puppy promptly after arrival.
